Science Fair
Should totally be optional. I mean, I’m not even nervous about the presentation or anything (big surprise, huh?), just, it’s so, like, boring and time-consuming and hard to come up with an idea in the first place. And besides, it’s not like I’m ever going to win. Who wants to win anyway? The only cool part about winning is the fact that you get to go to the US and, of course, you get to say that you won the Science Fair. That’s pretty cool. But even when you go to the US, it’s only to go present at this even bigger Science Fair called Intel ISEF. And seriously, who would want to do that? Actually, who would even want to go up in front of everyone and get their little medal or award or whatever when you win? That’s as bad as making the honor roll and having to go up in front of the whole upper school and get the award (Alvy and I were so shaky and stuff).
Science is okay. I like Science, actually. It’s my favorite subject. I’m not allowed to like the teacher, even though she’s so nice to me, because apparently she humiliated Alvy and Cary in front of I-don’t-remember-what-people. But that’s fine. I like Science anyway. I just think Science Fair is so totally pointless. I know I’m never gonna win. If I ever did win, I would never go to the Intel place. There’s no, like, goal or anything.
We also have to do this powerpoint presentation summarizing up all our work. At first we were going to present to the whole middle school. I asked Vivian if someone could go up there with me, just to be there. They wouldn’t have to do anything. Just be there and smile reassuringly when I looked at them. But no. I have to do it by myself. I don’t get why everyone keeps saying that I’m eventually going to HAVE to present something in front of a bunch of people. I don’t think people get that I don’t HAVE to do any friggin thing if I don’t want to. So I asked how much the presentation was of our grade and I think it was like 20%. I could still get a B-. But then God took pity of my sudden out-of-no where cold sweaty hands and my heart beating so fast because I suddenly remembered that in about three weeks I would have to present something in front of the whole middle school, and decided that I shouldn’t have to. I’m just a kid after all. I shouldn’t be put under so much pressure. It’s not healthy, you know…
So now we’re only presenting to our grade. Great.
Torrents
Torrents are my new favorite things in the whole world. (well, not really. But it’s definitely one of the top 10. Currently, at least.) I wasn’t exactly sure what they were, and when I looked at dictionary.com it said these things about a stream or something, and that’s not what I mean, in case any of you know the word torrent as being a stream or water or whatever.
You know, Alvy addicted me to Buffy and now I watch it all the time and I even bought the first and second season for myself (and they didn’t get here today either, by the way) and my favorite character is Willow, who is played by Alyson Hannigan (who is also Michelle, from American Pie, and Julia from Date Movie). So I was looking on imdb to see what other shows and movies and stuff she was in, since I liked her on Buffy so much, and I saw that right now she’s in this sitcom called How I Met Your Mother. And I looked on the internet to see what it was about and I really wanted to watch it. But of course, Brazil is always like, the last country that the new TV shows air in, so it’s not on yet. I tried to download it on limewire but there were no results, so I looked on google to see if there’s any place where I can download it.
And that’s when I found them: torrents.
Basically, they’re these files that you can download if you have a program called uTorrent and they have like ALL TV shows imaginable, and movies too. It’s SO awesome. I can’t believe I never heard of these before. They’re the best thing everyone ever created. (again, not true. I’m exaggerating) So I downloaded the first episode, and I just finished watching it. It’s hilarious, really. And since I liked the first episode, I’m now downloading the entire first season. I hope I’ll like the rest too.
The only thing I don’t like is the word, torrents. It reminds me of toast.
Oh and since I like all her movies and shows (the ones I’ve watched), Alyson Hannigan is my favorite actress now (What? So I’ve actually known her name only for three weeks. It still counts). She’s so funny on every show and movie I’ve seen her on (except for Buffy, most of the time. But that’s cuz Buffy isn’t comedy) I wish I could meet her, that would be so cool…
Projects
Sofy:
The good thing is that tomorrow I’m not going to school. I have to get this thingy called an RG in portuguese, I don’t know in english. It’s basically this card thing with your picture, signature, and birthday. And you show it when you go to the movies so that the dudes can make sure you’re old enough. I have one, but it’s from when I was like five, and I barely knew how to write so the letters are all babyish and capitalized where it shouldn’t be. (I think it’s cute, but I can’t walk around with that forever)
The bad thing is that I have two projects due tomorrow. I don’t have to hand them in, cuz I’m not gonna be there, but I keep getting worried that like, I’ll end up not having to go to the RG place and I didn’t do my homework. I did half of my portuguese project, now I have to do my History one. It’s about Columbus, I have to say where he went and tell people his whole friggin’ biography. I mean, who wants to know him anyway? So like he discovered a few places. Big deal. If I lived back then and someone gave me a big boat, a lot of money, a bunch of dudes to boss around and freedom to just go and look for land and stuff, I’d find that land in no time. I swear.
And also, today before English class I got in a fight with Talita and she hit my hand with her binder, and now there’s this stupid ugly purplish thingy. It’s sort of reddish now too, so I don’t think it’ll be here tomorrow. I sure as hell hope not. I got in a few blows too, and so did Alvy, though. So apart from this ugly deformed THING on my hand, it’s all good. (I didn’t REALLY get into a fight, duh. But she did like, mutilate my hand, which is NOT nice)
And also, I ordered Buffy Season 1 and 2 online (I order everything online. It’s just so much easier. You type in some little numbers that are on the back of your dad’s credit card, and it’s all done. So practical) but they’re not here yet. I ordered them Thursday, and it wasn’t even from a store in the US, it’s in São Paulo. These people just take so LONG. Don’t they get that this might be like SUPER important?
Oh but what DID get here is the book I’ve been waiting for three hundred thousand trazillion years. It’s awesome. It’s so nice and clean and smelling all new-booky.
Once More With Feeling
Alvy:
Yesterday, Sofy, Cary and Bia went to Vanessa’s house (Oh, by the way, it may seem a surprise to you, but Vanessa was there also.)
We went there to watch “Date Movie” and “Once More With Feeling” (Actually, it’s a Buffy episode.) We arrived, and left our backpacks near the kitchen. We went straight to the livingroom to watch “Date Movie” it’s kind of pornographic, in a way that’s not pornographic, but it’s very funny. We took the kids off the livingroom so they wouldn’t see anything, but Vanessa’s sister made her way and got a little bit of the most “pornful” part. After we watched “Date Movie” we watched the Buffy musical episode called “Once More With Feeling” and it was very interesting. Sofy and I have seen most of the seasons, and we know a lot about each charater, so when we saw Anya (ex-demon, terrified of bunnies, money-lover) sing a total concert on her fear for bunnies, we burst out laughing, and everyone just stared at us. Everyone liked the “Walk Through The Fire” song, so we rewinded that song so we could sing along, and then we watched “She’s the man” but before that, I went to the bathroom, and saw enough evidence to assume that Sofy didn’t flush. And when told her, everyone started laughing, and Vanessa’s mom started to talk about how she does her needs in the bathroom. Later on, we discovered that the toilet water was originally yellow. Even before we were done with “She’s The Man,” Bia and I went home.
From then on, I don’t really know what happened in Vanessa’s house… (Dramatic Song)
Life’s So Unfair
I had a History test today. My first History test with that new teacher dude, in Portuguese. The fact that History was in Portuguese wasn’t that bad for me, I mean, of course I could understand everything, and mostly, I didn’t even notice we weren’t talking in English. The test was about England, France, Portugal, and Spain. First of all, I don’t get why I need to know anything about these stupid places. I’ve never been there, and even though I want to be there, at least to Portugal, it’s not as if people are going to be asking me about the history of the country.
I got an F. Five out of ten. Fifty percent. That’s not good. And the worst part is, I even studied. I did, a lot. Of course, I was watching Buffy while I studied, so I guess I didn’t study THAT hard. But I studied, really, and the stuff that I studied weren’t in the test. I mean, I even remember that in 843 the land of this dude, Carlos Magno, was divided between his grandchildren, and I even remember two of their names, Lotário and Luis o Germânico. Or something very similar to that happened. And I also remember that this French dude had four children, three boys and a girl, and he married the girl to a English king, and they had this kid, and then the other three boys died and the son of the girl was supposed to be the king, but the French people didn’t want him, so this family called Valois got the power. See? I remember. But none of that was in the test, so it wasn’t worth it. I mean, why the heck am I gonna memorize how this place caled Flandres helped close the Hundred Years War? I don’t care. It’s not as if I’m gonna be a History teacher.
But, and F! Not even a D-. A D- would be better, but an F? I’m so stupid.
And then when I got out of class I told my friends, and I felt like crying, and they laughed because I always laugh at this sort of stuff. I always laugh when I get a bad grade. They didn’t get that it really meant something to me. I mean, what kills me is that I studied! I paid attention to the class, I really did. And still, an F. If I hadn’t studied or paid attention, I wouldn’t care what grade I got, because I would have known before the test that I would get a bad grade. But I thought I would get at least a B, or a B-. And people got better grades than me. Most of the boys got better grades than me, and they even admitted that they guessed most of the questions. But I really thought I was right in most of the things. This sucks.
Buffy: The Best Series EVER!
Alvy:
I have mentioned a lot of Buffy episodes and characters in the last posts, and I just felt like talking about it a little, just so you guys could rent a season and give it a try!
Sofy and I are great fans of the Buffy seasons, since I lent the third season to her, and she seems to be enjoying it! she asks me some questions, and I love that she’s getting involved in the plot, and she’s really enjoying! I feel so happy! but Ms. Coggio and Cary have to start watching (Well, Cary won’t have time, but I could lent it to Ms. Coggio!)
As the title suggests, “Buffy the vampire slayer” is about Buffy, the vampire slayer, and her friends, and actually, vampires and slayers aren’t the only things related to the supernatural, wiccas, demons, gods, cyborgs and other things are also involved! some of her friends are:
Willow: a wicca (Tara’s girlfriend)
Tara: a wicca (Willow’s girlfriend)
Xander: the “group clown”
Spike: an ally vampire
Angel: an ally vampire
Cordelia: Popular girl, runs away in the third season
Dawn: Buffy’s sister
Anya: ex-demon
Giles: Buffy’s watcher
Drusilla: Spike’s ex-girlfriend
The story is fun, and very creative, and it even tells some stories from other books, like the gentlemen, Hansel and Gretel and even Dracula. (And that’s why you would like it, Ms. Coggio)
Buffy goes from season 1-7 and there has been a rumor that the 8th season will also be released, I just hope it’s true, since Buffy the vampire slayer IS the best series of all times.
